Burlington Bees News Release

After the snow cleared in Monday in Kane County, the Bees were down to their last out in regulation, losing 2-1, when first baseman Connor Fitzsimons hit a line drive RBI single to right, Nonie Williams scored, and the team which played more extra-inning games than anyone else in the Midwest League in 2018 was off to their second one of this season.

Starting pitcher Hector Yan gave up two runs in the first but combined with Jose Soriano to shut Kane County down through the next nine innings. The cougars were limited to five hits. The two first-place teams combined to strikeout 24 times in this one.

Neither team scored in the 10th. Francisco Del Valle started he 11th at second base, per minor league extra inning rules. Nonie Williams put down the sacrifice bunt. Del Valle to third. Gleyvin Pineda then pushed a single through the left side of the infield, and Del Valle scored to give the Bees the lead. Ben Morrison came on in the bottom of the frame, induced three ground outs to end, and collect his second save of the season.

Pineda and Catcher Harrison Wenson were both 2-4. Both added walks, and Wenson had a double.
