Burgoyne Named Player of the Month

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma City Blazers defenseman Mike Burgoyne was named Sherwood Central Hockey League Player of the Month, the league office announced today.

Burgoyne, a 6-1, 200-pounder from Hamilton, Ontario has made the most of his first five games as a Blazer. He is currently tied for the league lead in points with 11 and leads the circuit in assists with nine. He becomes the third Blazer to win the Sherwood Player of the Month award, joining teammates Marty Standish and Michel Beausoleil.

The Blazers are off to their best start since the 2001-02 season. They look to add to their hot start Friday night at the Ford Center against the Memphis RiverKings at 7:35 p.m.

Faceoff time for the Oklahoma City Blazers game Saturday, November 4 against the Rocky Mountain Rage has been changed. The game will now begin at 3:05 p.m. at the Ford Center.

NOTE: The Oklahoma City Blazers were ranked second in the inaugural Central Hockey League coaches' poll released today.

The inaugural poll of the top 10 teams as voted by the CHL coaches, will be released every Thursday.
