Blazers trade Standish to Laredo

Oklahoma City Blazers News Release

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Blazers traded veteran centerman Marty Standish to the Laredo Bucks for future considerations, head coach Doug Sauter announced today.

Standish, a 5-8, 175-pounder from Kelvington, Saskatchewan leaves the Blazers ranked in the top five in every Blazers offensive category.

"It's very tough to trade one of my all-time favorite Blazers," said Sauter. "I wanted Marty to think about his future and give him choices for the rest of the season. Laredo is one of the top franchises in the CHL and I believe that Marty will fit in there with Coach Ruskowski's team. As an organization, we wish Marty the best of luck. I personally will miss Marty as a player, a friend and a Blazer."

"Marty is truly one of the all-time Blazer greats," said CEO of Express Sports Brad Lund. "He has been the face of our franchise for many seasons, and served the role well. This roster move has been the most difficult from a personal standpoint during my 17-season tenure."

The Blazers face two road games this weekend against the Mississippi RiverKings in Southaven, Miss. Faceoff for both games is 7:05 p.m.
