DURHAM, N.C. - Bulls designated hitter Jonathan Aranda drove in three runs, third baseman Osleivis Basabe drove in four including a 3 RBI triple and first baseman Austin Shenton knocked a 2 RBI double in Durham's 9-7 victory over the Charlotte Knights on Tuesday afternoon at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Aranda and Basabe each drove in a run in the third before Shenton knocked a 2 RBI double in his first career game at the DBAP. Aranda recorded two more runs in the following inning, followed by Basabe's 3 RBI triple in the eighth to secure the win. C Blake Hunt, LF Niko Hulsizer and CF Kameron Misner also recorded hits.
Durham reliever Josh Roberson (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 SO) earned the victory, while Ryan Thompson (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 SO) notched the save. Charlotte reliever Jimmy Lambert (1.0 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO) suffered the defeat.
The two teams are set to continue the series Wednesday afternoon, with first pitch set for 6:35pm. Starting pitchers for both teams are to be announced.
