Shuster Tosses Six Scoreless as Stripers Win 9-3 in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Jared Shuster worked around six walks for a 6.0-inning scoreless effort, and both Hoy Park and Justin Dean slugged home runs as the Gwinnett Stripers (43-53) defeated the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (43-53) 9-3 on Tuesday night at 121 Financial Ballpark.

Decisive Plays: Yolmer Sanchez staked the Stripers to a 2-0 lead in the second inning with a two-run single, and Luke Williams drew a bases loaded walk to make it 3-0. Park blasted a three-run homer (5) to the bleacher seats in right field off Jacksonville starter Ronald Bolanos (L, 3-9) to extend the lead to 6-0 in the fifth. Dean's two-run blast (2) to right field highlighted a three-run eighth that made it 9-0. The Jumbo Shrimp ended the shutout on a Paul McIntosh sacrifice fly in the eighth and got a two-run homer from Peyton Burdick (20) in the ninth.

Key Contributors: Shuster (W, 3-3) scattered three hits and six walks over 6.0 scoreless innings while striking out three in his first Triple-A win since May 10 at Nashville. Park (2-for-5, homer, 3 RBIs), Sanchez (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), and Dean (1-for-1, 3 3 walks, homer, 2 RBIs) combined to drive in seven of Gwinnett's nine runs.

Noteworthy: Park extended his hitting streak to eight games, a span in which he's batting .571 (16-for-28, 2 doubles, 2 homers, 9 RBIs, 1.482 OPS). Vaughn Grissom went 2-for-5 with two doubles for his team-leading 31st multi-hit game of the year, extending his on-base streak to 20 games (tied for the longest by a Stripers player this year). Atlanta Braves' left-hander A.J. Minter pitched a scoreless seventh inning with one strikeout in his first rehab appearance with Gwinnett this year.
