January 10, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
ROCHESTER, NEW YORK - The Hamilton Bulldogs went a perfect 10-for-10 on the penalty kill, while defenceman Nathan Beaulieu and forward Justin Courtnall scored as the 'Dogs (18-14-0-4) extended their season-high winning streak to six games with a 2-1 victory over the Rochester Americans (14-14-3-3) on Friday evening at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York. With the win, Hamilton also bumped its point streak to a season-best seven games.
Beaulieu squeaked a wrist shot past Amerks goaltender Matt Hackett on the power play to get Hamilton on the board first just 6:57 into the first period. Beaulieu's third goal of the year was assisted by forwards Martin St. Pierre and Sven Andrighetto.
Hamilton's lead was extended to 2-0 at 6:08 of the middle frame when a weird bounce in front of the net fooled Hackett. Courtnall was credited with his fourth goal of the season on the play, with an assist to forward Louis Leblanc.
Americans forward Dan Catenacci broke Bulldogs goaltender Dustin Tokarski's shutout bid with 5:45 remaining in the third period. Forwards Tim Schaller and Joel Armia earned assists on the play.
Tokarski made 19 saves on 20 shots in the Bulldogs net in the win. Hackett made 17 saves on 19 shots for the Americans in the loss.
The Bulldogs went 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Americans went 0-for-10.
