Worcester, MA - Tyler Gron scored in his debut as the Worcester Sharks (15-15-2-1, 33pts) picked up a 3-1 victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack (11-18-0-5, 27pts) in front of 3,203 fans at the DCU Center in on Friday evening. The Sharks continue their 3-in-3 weekend at home with a 7pm start vs. the Norfolk Admirals.
Brodie Reid nabbed the game winner at 13:39 of the third period and Daniil Tarasov added an empty netter for Worcester while Troy Grosenick was strong in net as he made 21 saves in his 7th victory of the season. Yanni Gourde assisted on the game winner in his return for the Sharks as Worcester moved back to .500 on home ice.
A fast moving first period saw Hartford score the only goal on the power play at 7:23. Ryan Bourque (6th) fired a rocket over the shoulder of goaltender Troy Grosenick from the left circle to put the Wolf Pack up 1-0 through 20 minutes. Worcester outshot Hartford 8-7.
The Sharks picked up play in the second period and new comer Tyler Gron (1st) struck on the power play at 10:16 as he fired a loose puck at the side of the net past netminder Dov Grumet-Morris to tie the score at 1-1. Worcester outshot Hartford 13-6 as the two teams headed into the locker room knotted at 1-1.
After winning a puck battle along the left wing boards in the Wolf Pack zone, Yanni Gourde found Brodie Reid (4th) at 13:39 of the third period on top of the left circle and Reid's shot broke through the Hartford goaltender for the eventual game winner. Daniil Tarasov (10th) added an empty netter while Troy Grosenick made nine 3rd period saves to preserve the victory.
The Sharks overall record improves to 15-15-2-1, 33pts and 7-7-0-1, 15pts at the DCU Center this season.

Curt Gogol, Matt Pelech (inj), Harri Sateri (ill)and Adam Comrie (inj) did not dress for Worcester... before the game the Sharks signed goaltender Scott Barchand (Tufts University alum) to an ATO and he backed up Troy Grosenick..... Lane Scheidl returned to the lineup after missing the first 32 games due to injury.... Yanni Gourde added an assist to his return to the Sharks lineup.... Tyler Gron scored his 1st career AHL goal....Worcester improved to 12-2-0-1 when they score at least three goals....Dylan Demelo extended his point streak to three games (1-2-3) with an assist.

On Saturday, the Sharks host the Norfolk Admirals at 7pm with the first 2,000 fans receiving a "Dirty Harri" movie poster presented by WTAG. Doors open at 1:30pm for the 5th annual High School Hockey Showdown which will feature the Shrewsbury Colonials vs. the Algonquin Tomahawks The girls' varsity game is at 2pm and the boys' game at 4pm.
On Sunday the Sharks host the Portland Pirates at 3pm on $5 Kids Sundays presented by Hebert Candies. Boston Garden Legend Rene Rancourt will perform the national anthem and sign autographs at the game!
