Tye McGinn Recalled by Flyers
January 10, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Adirondack Phantoms News Release
The Philadelphia Flyers have recalled left-wing Tye McGinn from the Adirondack Phantoms, according to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren. McGinn will be available for Philadelphia's next game on Saturday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The move comes as former Phantom Zac Rinaldo was placed on injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain.
Tye McGinn, 23, is joining the Flyers again for the fourth time this season. He has six goals and 12 points in 28 games with the Phantoms this season, and is coming off a two-point night (1g-1a) in Adirondack's 4-0 win over the Albany Devils last Saturday, the Phantoms' fourth straight victory.
He has also appeared in six games for the Flyers this season, recording three goals and a plus-minus rating of plus-1 with an average of 12:39 of ice-time per-game. McGinn was drafted by the Flyers in the fourth round (119th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and has a career total of six goals and eight points in 24 games for the Flyers over the last two seasons.
McGinn's last recall to the Flyers was from December 9-12 but he appeared in no games during that stretch. His most recent games for the Flyers were November 2 at New Jersey and November 5 at Carolina. He recorded his first career two-goal game in the NHL on October 15 against the Vancouver Canucks.
With the Phantoms, McGinn has played in 137 career games scoring 32-24-56 with 117 PIM. The Fergus, Ontario native is the younger brother of Jamie McGinn of the Colorado Avalanche and is the older brother of Brock McGinn who was a second-round selection of Carolina in 2012 and is currently one of the top scorers in the Ontario Hockey League scoring 24-26-50 in just 32 games.
The Adirondack Phantoms carry a four-game win streak into their game on Friday night against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The Phantoms hold a three-game homestand next week from January 15-18 with games at the Glens Falls Civic Center next Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. 25 Terrific Seasons
Glens Falls is celebrating its 25th season hosting an AHL team and in so doing now joins an elite group of just 9 other active markets who can make such a claim. It's a great hockey tradition with an old-school feel that began with the Adirondack Red Wings in 1979. In their 20-year tenure at the Glens Falls Civic Center through 1999, the Red Wings won four Calder Cups. The Adirondack Phantoms began play in Glens Falls in 2009-10 and are in their fifth season bringing exciting AHL action to the North Country.
