IceCaps to Honour NL Power, Nalcor and City Workers
January 10, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
St. John's IceCaps News Release
The St. John's IceCaps are pleased to announce they will honour the women and men who have worked diligently through the recent weather challenges and power outages. On Friday, January 17th and Monday, January 20th the IceCaps will welcome workers with Nalcor Energy, Newfoundland Power and the City of St. John's.
"As a province we have experienced some very difficult days recently due to harsh winter weather and electricity shortages," said President and CEO, Danny Williams. "On the front lines were many women and men who worked tirelessly and often in dangerous conditions to fix power lines, deliver services, clear streets and get our lives back to normal. While we often hear people thank these anonymous individuals, we want to acknowledge them in a tangible way by welcoming them to Mile One so that everyone can see exactly who these hard working people are. This will allow us all to thank these unsung heroes personally."
The IceCaps will designate some seats, Party Boxes and Corporate Suites for workers to enjoy a well-deserved break from their long, hard days of work. The IceCaps value the services these workers provide in the City of St. John's and indeed throughout the province.
