Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Rochester, NY - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Rochester Americans 5-2 at Blue Cross Arena on Friday night. Tom Pyatt recorded a hat-trick to extend the âDogs winning streak to six games, their longest winning streak since the 2002-2003 season.
The Bulldogs opened the game's scoring at 11:29 of the first period while on the power play. P.K. Subban blasted a shot from the point that was stopped by Rochester starting goaltender Tyler Plante. The goaltender could not contain the rebound, which Pyatt grabbed and fired into the back of the net. Hamilton took a 2-0 lead at 18:20. Ryan Russell received the puck from Pyatt before dishing a pass to J.T. Wyman, who was positioned in the middle of the ice. Wyman blasted a one-time shot that sailed past Plante and into the net.
Pyatt scored his second goal of the game at 11:17 of the middle frame. Pyatt received the puck from Mike Glumac before using a forehand-to-backhand move and flipping the puck over Plante and into the net. At 14:07, Glumac gave the âDogs a 4-0 lead. Alex Henry received the puck from Greg Stewart, while stationed at the point. Henry hammered a shot towards the net that was redirected by Glumac and past Plante.
The Americans got on the scoreboard at 1:10 of the final frame. Clay Wilson sent the puck to Chris Taylor, who fed a pass to Graham Mink. Mink proceeded to snap a one-time shot past Hamilton starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins. Rochester made the game 4-2 at 14:16. Dadonov skated into the Bulldogs' zone before firing a shot that was stopped by Desjardins. The puck bounced around in front of the goaltender before Dadonov grabbed his own rebound and whacked it past Desjardins.
Pyatt completed his hat-trick with an empty net goal at 19:49 of the third period. Pyatt received the puck from Subban before firing a shot into the empty goal to seal the win for Hamilton.
