Aeros add goalie to thinning roster

HOUSTON - Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill today announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed goaltender Ryan Nie (NYE) to a professional try-out contract (PTO).

Nie, 24 (4/15/85), is 13-7-1 including two shutouts, a 2.80 GAA and a .910 Sv% in 21 games with the Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL) this season. Nie played 43:20 in relief and stopped eight of 10 shots faced for the Providence Bruins vs. the Manchester Monarchs in his only AHL game played Nov. 25, 2007. Nie will wear the #35 sweater with the Aeros.

Houston returns home Friday, February 12 vs. the Grand Rapids Griffins, 7:35 PM from Toyota Center.
