Bulldogs drop 2-1 game to Moose in OT

Winnipeg, MB - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Manitoba Moose 2-1 in overtime on Friday night. Hamilton earned a point in the loss which clinched a spot for the club in the 2009 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The Bulldogs opened the game's scoring at 9:21 of the first frame. Kyle Chipchura sent a pass to Mathieu Carle, who blasted a shot from the point. Ryan Russell tipped the shot past Manitoba starting goaltender Cory Schneider.

The Moose tied the game at 1:42 of the final frame with a power-play marker. Matt Pope fired a shot that was stopped by Hamilton starting goaltender Marc Denis. A scramble began in front of Denis which allowed Jason Krog to whack the puck past Denis.

With the score 1-1, the game went to overtime. At 1:48 of the extra period Nolan Baumgartner scored to win the game for Manitoba. Baumgartner skated down the left side before releasing a shot that sailed over the right shoulder of Denis. Shaun Heshka and Mark Cullen earned assists on the goal.

The Bulldogs battle the Moose again in Manitoba on Sunday, March 29th for a 3:00 p.m. EST game.
