Worcester Sharks News Release

Worcester, MA - After two periods of back and forth scoring, Dan DaSilva's 2nd goal of the game would edge the Falcons in a 3-2 Worcester victory on "Officials Night" at the DCU Center Friday.

The Sharks would take a 1-0 advantage in the 1st period when Trent Campbell fired a pass from the corner that would find its way through the crease and onto the stick of DaSilva who would drive home his 1st goal of the evening at 11:29. However, the Falcons would be quick to score an equalizer as Ryan Potulny would beat Worcester goaltender Thomas Greiss in front of the net on a bang-bang play to even the score 1-1 at 12:31.

In between the scoring, rookie Frazer McLaren officially became Worcester's heavyweight fighter as he broke the Sharks franchise fighting major record when he threw down for his 20th bout this season, this time against Springfield right wing Hans Benson at 12:00.

At 1:57 in the 2nd frame and just :7 seconds into a Springfield power play, right wing Shane Willis would unload a shot that would ricochet off Sharks defensemen Brett Westgarth and past Greiss to take a 2-1 Falcons lead. The Sharks would later cash in on a power play opportunity of their own when Lukas Kaspar launched a missile from the point past Falcon net minder Devan Dubnyk to tie the game 2-2 at 18:04. Worcester would go on to outshoot Springfield 20-9 in the 2nd period.

Worcester would strike quickly in 3rd period when DaSilva netted his 2nd score of the night at :21 seconds to put Worcester up 3-2. Andrew Desjardins and Campbell would each be credited with their 2nd assist of the game. The Sharks would maintain the lead for the remainder of the 3rd period to pick up a 3-2 win over Springfield.

The win brings Worcester's record to 36-33-1-2 with 75 points through 72 games.
