January 7, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals announced Friday that goaltender Mike Brodeur, who saw NHL action with the Ottawa Senators this past Saturday, has been assigned to the team from the Binghamton Senators, the Jackals' AHL affiliate. Elmira hosts Kalamazoo at First Arena tonight at 7:35 p.m.

Brodeur entered Ottawa's game on Saturday against Toronto with just under four minutes remaining in the first period and made 12 saves on 14 shots in the final 43:50 of the Senators' 5-1 loss to the Maple Leafs.

The Calgary native recorded his 13th-career shutout in the Jackals' last home game on Dec. 18 against Toledo as Elmira won, 5-0. The shutout was Elmira's first of the 2010-2011 season. Overall, Brodeur is 2-1-0-0 with the Jackals this season, with a 2.44 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.

Brodeur started the opening game of the season for the B-Sens, playing in 55 minutes and making 27 saves on 28 shots in a win over Adirondack before an injury forced him to leave the game. He started for Binghamton on Dec. 28 as the B-Sens lost to Hershey, 6-1.

In 2009-2010, Brodeur played in 36 games with Binghamton, going 13-13-2 with an .899 save percentage, a 3.06 goals-against average, and two shutouts. Brodeur made his NHL debut last season, going 3-0 in three starts with Ottawa with a .966 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average and garnered a shutout in his second NHL start on Jan. 14, stopping 32 New York Rangers' shots in a 2-0 Senators victory.
