Quick Named the Meigray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month

PRINCETON, NJ- Former ECHL and current Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Quick is The MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for December.

The leading distributor of game- worn hockey jerseys and ‚¬Å“Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL, ‚¬Â MeiGray sold more than 700 game-worn jerseys in 2009-10 and has sold more than 5,500 since it became ‚¬Å“The Official Game- Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL ‚¬Â in 2002-03.

The 24 year old was 7-3-1 with three shut outs, a 2.25 goals against average and a save percentage of .919 in 12 games for the Kings in the month of December. He made a season-high 51 saves in a 5-0 win at Detroit on Dec. 13 and added shutouts against Colorado on Dec. 21 and San Jose on Dec. 27.

Quick has appeared in 30 games for the Kings this season going 18-10-1 with four shutouts, a goals against average of 2.09 and a save percentage of .922. His 2.09 goals-against average is second in the league while he is fourth in shutouts and fifth in wins.

The Milford, Conn. native played 38 games with the Reading Royals in 2007-08 posting a 23-11-3 record with one shutout, a goals against average of 2.79 and a save percentage of .905. After being called up to the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL, Quick posted a record of 17-13-2 with two shutouts, a goals against average of 2.48 and a save percentage of .921 in 33 games from 2007-09.

Selected in the third round (72nd overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Quick has played in 148 games for the Kings posting a record of 79-53-10 with 12 shutouts, a goals against average of 2.44 and a save percentage of .912. Quick also represented the United States at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver where he earned a silver medal.

There have been 459 players who have played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL including 16 this season and 35 in 2009-10. The ECHL has had 267 players reach the NHL since 2002-03 when it changed its focus to become the primary developmental league for the NHL and the AHL. The ECHL had 97 players reach the NHL in its first 10 seasons and 215 in the first 15 years. There have been 203 ECHL players who have played their first game in the last six seasons for an average of more than 33 per year.
