Wichita Thunder News Release
WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder lost 4-3 to the Texas Brahmas at the INTRUST Bank Arena on Friday night.
Mick Lawrence snapped a 3-3 tie at 13:37 in the third period to provide the final margin. Wichita had several opportunities with an extra attacker in the final 1:43, but Brahmas' goaltender Wayne Savage prevented the Thunder from tying the game.
Trailing 3-2 after two periods, Lance Galbraith tied the game at 6:40 in the third, winning a scrum in front of the net. It was the third time Wichita battled back to even the contest. Galbraith finished the night with a goal and an assist. Lawrence scored with 6:23 left in regulation, wristing a shot past Marc-Antoine Gelinas while leading a two-on-one rush.
Texas took a 1-0 lead at 12:05 in the first period on a goal from Chad Woollard. Woollard picked up a rebound just to the left of the slot where he fired off the right post and into the net.
Matt Robinson tied it at the 1:28 mark in the second. Robinson skated into the right circle and wristed the puck past the right of Brahmas' goaltender Wayne Savage. Just over a minute later, Tyler Allen batted in a power play goal to give Allen a 2-1 lead. The Thunder re-tied the game at 3:22 when Jesse Bennefield scored on a one-timer from the slot. Jason Krischuk gave Texas its third lead at 11:55. With Marc-Antoine Gelinas pinned on the crease, Krischuk shot over his left shoulder from the right halfboards.
Gelinas took a tough loss, saving 35 of 39. Savage earned the win, saving 38 of 41. Wichita was 0 for 3 on the power play while Texas was 1 for 4.
