Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings meet the Missouri Mavericks tonight at 7:05 PM in independence, Missouri, as the Central Hockey League (CHL) regular season resumes after Wednesday's All-Star Game in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The RiverKings enter tonight's game with a record of 16-17-1 for 33 points and seventh place in the CHL Berry Conference, while the Mavericks are 18-11-3 for 39 points and third place in the CHL Turner Conference.

The RiverKings are 2-0-0 against the Mavericks this season, but this will be the first time they have met on the ice since October 29th, when the RiverKings prevailed in Missouri 5-2.

In two previous games against the Mavericks, Nathan Lutz has led the RiverKings offense with two goals, and he is joined by Darrell Stoddard, Chris Richards, and Matt Boyd for the point lead with three. Goaltender Larry Sterling allowed four goals in his only meeting against the Mavericks in October, but has a 1-0-0 record against Missouri.

Stoddard will be in the lineup for tonight's game, as he was activated from the injured reserve earlier this week when Brian Ihnacak was placed on waivers.

Lutz returns to action after playing Wednesday in the All-Star Game, scoring a goal and playing solid defense for the CHL All-Stars in their 11-6 victory over the host Rush.

Mississippi begins a weekend of three games in three nights, as the RiverKings travel to Evansville tomorrow night for a 7:35 PM encounter with the IceMen, followed Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM with a meeting in Fort Wayne with the Komets. After Sunday, the RiverKings will open a nine-game home stand Tuesday night at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. Game time Tuesday night is at 7:05 PM.

All three games of the weekend schedule will be heard on the Flagship Station for RiverKings hockey, Sports 56, WHBQ-AM. Tonight's pre-game show starts at 6:50 PM and RiverKings Media Coordinator Bob Bakken will provide the play-by-play. Fans can watch the action on CHL-TV through its web casting service.
