The Bloomington PrairieThunder lost 5-2 to the Dayton Gems in Ohio on Friday night. Bloomington actually took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission on defenseman Alan Mazur's first goal of the season at 15:43 of the first period. However, Dayton would score the next three in a row to make it 3-1 after two periods. The PThunder's Dustin DeGagne made it 3-2 at 7:57 of the third period but the Gems would tack on two more lamp lighters to close out the score. CHL All Star MVP Jason Dale assisted on both PrairieThunder goals.
Dayton's Mike Vaskivuo had two goals and an assist and Kyle Bochek scored the game winner at 16:20 of the second period. Gems All-Star goaltender Jeff Jakaitus stopped 39 of 41 shots in the win. Overall, the game had very little flow as 17 power play opportunities were assessed, with 10 of them going to Dayton.
The PrairieThunder (19-12-1), return home to the U.S. Cellular Coliseum to face the Fort Wayne Komets on Saturday night. Game time is 7:05pm. The Dayton Gems improved to 17-13-3.
