Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

Wichita, KANSAS (January 14)- The first meeting of the season between Texas and Wichita was a back and forth battle of goals with the Brahmas coming out on top with a game winning goal by Mick Lawrence late in the third period.

First period saw quick play by both teams as defense was prominent, until the Brahmas Chad Woollard put one in the pipes for an early 1-0 lead with 7:55 left in the first.

The second period was clash of offense and defense as both teams battled throughout. The Thunder struck quickly when only 1:28 into the period, Matt Robinson beat Brahmas netminder Wayne Savage to tie the contest 1-1. The Brahmas quickly answered back when rookie Tyler Allen scored on a power play to give Texas their second lead of the game 2-1. The goals kept coming as Jesse Benefield scored the second goal of the period for Wichita to tie the game once again and end the period 2-2.

Fast pace play was the name of the game in the third period when extreme pressure from the Thunder paid off as Lance Galbraith scored on a power play to tie the game for the third time. The Texas offense continued to pressure Wichita and at the 6:23 mark Mick Lawrence, with assists from Jim Burichin and former Thunder Chris Moran, shot one by Marc-Antoine Gelinas to give the Brahmas the win.

This was Woollard ‚¬â„¢s tenth consecutive game in which he has gained at least one point and fifth consecutive game scoring at least one goal. Savage stopped 38 of 41 shots for his 6th win of the season.

The Brahmas start a three game home stand as they take on the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees Saturday, January 15 at 7:30 PM at the NYTEX Sports Centre. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.
