
Killer Bees Shutout by Laredo Bucks

Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
LAREDO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (14-20-3) were shutout by the Laredo Bucks (13-15-5) on Friday night by a score of 7-0. Laredo exploded for five-goals in five minutes in the first period and added a goal in each subsequent period to take the victory.
The Killer Bees had a five-minute stretch to forget as the Laredo Bucks scored five goals from 6:21 to 11:21 of the first period. Juliano Pagliero allowed the first two goals of the game then Mike Brown made his Killer Bees debut for the rest of the first period.
Daniel Koger, Justin Styffe, Brian Matte scored two, and Darryl Smith scored for the Bucks. The Bees struggled offensively as well and did not register a shot on net for the first ten minutes of the game.
The Bees settled into the second period and were able to stay even with the Bucks for most of the period and outshot Laredo 14-8 however the Bees were unable to beat Pier Pelletier. Laredo scored their sixth goal of the game at 19:27 of the second after a Ryan Lehr shot pinballed to the back of the net.
In the third period Neil Trimm would get one for the Bucks as they increased their lead to seven goals. The Killer Bees power-play went 0-for-6 while Laredo went 1-of-4. Mike Brown made 12 saves on 17 shots in his Killer Bees debut. Juliano Pagliero started the game with seven saves on nine shots in 8:12 of work.
The Killer Bees waste no time getting back to work facing the Texas Brahmas on Saturday night at the NYTEX Sports Centere. Puck drops at 7:30 in Texas.
