Peoria Rivermen News Release
Peoria, IL (March 9, 2006) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald announced today that the Rivermen parent club St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL) has recalled left wing Timofei Shishkanov (TEE-moh-fay shihsh-KAHN-ohv) from his loan to the Rivermen. McDonald also announced that the Blues have loaned defenseman Tomas Mojzis (TOH-mash MOI-shihsh) to the Rivermen.
Shishkanov, 22, rejoins the Blues after briefly returning to the Rivermen to play in Peoria's 5-4 overtime loss at Grand Rapids on Wednesday, March 8. So far this season, the 6-1, 213-pound left wing has seen action in three NHL tilts with St. Louis. He has also played in a total of 58 American Hockey League (AHL) games during the current campaign with the Milwaukee Admirals and the Peoria Rivermen. Shishkanov has scored three goals, added two assists, and incurred eight minutes in penalties in 12 outings for Peoria in 2005-06. The Blues acquired the native of Moscow, Russia, on Sunday, January 29, from the Nashville Predators in exchange for center Mike Sillinger.
Mojzis, 23, comes to the Rivermen on loan from the Blues after being acquired by St. Louis earlier today from the Vancouver Canucks along with a third-round selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for defenseman Eric Weinrich. A 6-1, 192-pound blueliner, he has to this point split the 2005-06 season between the Canucks and their primary affiliate in the AHL, the Manitoba Moose. Mojzis picked up one assist and 12 penalty minutes in seven NHL contests earlier this season with Vancouver, and he recorded five goals, 13 assists, and 52 minutes in penalties in 37 AHL outings with Manitoba. Born in Kolin, Czech Republic, Mojzis was originally chosen by the Toronto Maple Leafs with the 246th overall selection in the eighth round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
