Mojzis, Skinner Part of Deadline Deals by Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced trades on the day of the National Hockey League Trade Deadline involving Moose defencemen Tomas Mojzis and Brett Skinner.

Mojzis, 23, was traded along with a third-round draft pick to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for defenceman Eric Weinrich. Mojzis had played in his first seven games in the NHL and collected one assist and 12 penalty minutes with the Canucks this season. The native of Kolin, Czech Republic had appeared in 37 games so far this season with the Moose. He has scored five goals and 12 assists for 17 points and 52 penalty minutes. In 180 career games with the Moose, the three-year pro collected 17 goals and 48 assists for 65 points, along with 164 penalty minutes. He was originally acquired in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Brad Leeb on September 4, 2002.

Skinner, 22, was traded along with a second-round draft choice to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in exchange for defenceman Keith Carney and the rights to defenceman Juha Alen. The Brandon, MB native is in his first season as a pro. In 50 games so far this year with the Moose, Skinner scored three goals and 18 assists for 21 points and 31 penalty minutes. In three seasons at the University of Denver, Skinner played in 122 games with the Pioneers, where he scored 15 goals and 67 assists for 82 points and 87 penalty minutes.
