
Beech Dealt to Caps

Milwaukee, WI- Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has acquired defenseman Brendan Witt from the Washington Capitals for forward Kris Beech and a first-round selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Beech was currently third on the Admirals roster with 50 points (18g-32a) in just 48 games. The Salmon Arm, BC native, who was coming off of a three point night (2g-1a) on Saturday versus Peoria, was +4 on the year with 48 penalty minutes. Beech played in five games for Nashville this season, scoring a goal and posting two assists.
The 6-2, 208-lbs. center returns to the organization that originally drafted him in the first round (7th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Witt leads the Capitals and ranks 12th in the NHL with 145 hits and also leads the club (and is tied for 11th in the NHL) with 131 blocked shots. He is the only player in the league to rank in the top 20 in both hits and blocked shots. The 6-2, 223-pound defenseman is averaging 21:41 of ice time per game and ranks fifth in the NHL with 141 penalty minutes.
The Admirals make their next appearance at the Bradley Center on Friday at 7:00 pm versus the Cleveland Barons.
