Aeros acquire first-round pick D Shawn Belle

HOUSTON, Texas - The Minnesota Wild has obtained defensemen Martin Skoula and Shawn Belle from the Dallas Stars for defenseman Willie Mitchell, the teams announced Thursday. Belle, a 21-year-old rookie who was a first-round pick of the St. Louis Blues in 2003, has been assigned to the Aeros.

Belle, 21 (1/3/85) is reunited with his former junior hockey defenseman mate Clayton Stoner. Belle, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound native of Edmonton, Alta., had three points (1-2=3) and 63 points in 45 games with the American Hockey League's Iowa Stars this season. He played four-plus seasons with WHL Tri City, with his best season coming in 2004-05, when he posted 45 points (13-32=45) in 62 games. St. Louis selected Belle with the 30th overall pick in 2003. He was a member of Canada's Gold-Medal winning team at the 2005 World Junior Championships.
