
BlueClaws Shut out Legends 2-0

Luke Leftwich allowed five hits and no runs in eight innings, and Edgar Garcia completed the shutout with a scoreless ninth as the Lakewood BlueClaws blanked the Lexington Legends 2-0 Tuesday night in Lakewood.
Emilio Ogando, who was named to the South Atlantic League Southern Division All-Star team earlier Tuesday, pitched well in defeat for Lexington. He allowed three hits and one earned run in seven innings. Ogando struck out eight batters and walked one.
The BlueClaws scored in the first inning on a triple by Jiandido Tromp and a sacrifice fly by Josh Tobias.
The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the eighth. Leadoff hitter Jan Hernandez reached second base on an error by center fielder Amalani Fukofuka and came home on a double by Deivi Grullon.
Leftwich (5-3) struck out eight batters and walked none, and lowered his earned run average to 2.43. Garcia picked up his first save.
Ogando (4-5) was the losing pitcher.
Lakewood has won the first two games of the series, which concludes with a morning game Wednesday. Game time is 11:05 a.m.
