Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Luis Martinez spun his first career complete game, but the Intimidators fell to the Greenville Drive, 4-1, in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System. Kannapolis (22-35) has dropped its last five home games.

Martinez (1-5) allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits over a season-high 7.0 innings for a quality start. He struck out three and walked two.

Greenville scored the game's first run in the top of the first thanks to an Intimidators error. With Luis Alejandro Basabe on second base, Josh Ockimey grounded a ball up the middle, and Danny Mendick could not backhand it clean. The ball ricocheted into the outfield, allowing Basabe to score.

In the top of the fourth, Ockimey and Tate Matheny led off the inning with back-to-back hits, setting up Kyri Washington, who belted a 3-run home run (7) to left field for a 4-0 lead.

Roniel Raudes (6-1), who was named to the South Atlantic League All-Star Game earlier in the day, earned the win for Greenville. He allowed a run on five hits over 5 and 1/3 innings while walking one and striking out five.

Kannapolis got on the board in the sixth inning with Seby Zavala doubled to plate Cody Daily.

Game 2 of today's doubleheader will begin at 7:25 p.m.
