Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE, NC - Terry McClure was 0-for-4 entering the batter's box in the bottom of the tenth inning. The Asheville Tourists trailed 5-4 with two outs and the tying run at second base. McClure singled into centerfield to score Carlos Herrera and force more baseball. The Tourists outfielder then won the game with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 12th to give Asheville a 6-5 win over the Hagerstown Suns.

The visitors took a 3-0 lead with a run in the second, third, and fourth innings. Asheville managed two runs in the bottom of the fifth on Brian Mundell's RBI groundout and a Suns wild pitch. After Hagerstown plated one in the sixth, the Tourists fought their way back to force extra-innings.

Mundell laced an RBI single to center that scored Mylz Jones in the seventh and Carlos Herrera led off the eighth with a Home Run to right-center. The Tourists had a chance to walk off in the bottom of the ninth when they loaded the bases with only one out, but an inning-ending double-play sent the game into extras.

Austin Davidson clubbed a solo Home Run in the top of the tenth to put Hagerstown back in front, but McClure's two-out RBI single in the bottom half kept the game alive for the Tourists.

In the 12th, Max George singled with one out. Chris Keck then doubled to put George at third base. McClure, facing a drawn in infield, chopped a ball over the head of Suns third-baseman Kelvin Gutierrez to plate the winning run.

The Tourists are now 5-5 in extra-innings this year and have four walk-off wins. Asheville's bullpen combined to pitch eight innings and limited the Suns to just two runs. The series wraps up on Wednesday night with a 7:05pm contest at McCormick Field.
