
SAL Announces 2016 All-Star Roster

Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets, Single-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are pleased to announce that four players on the Augusta GreenJackets roster have been chosen to participate in the 2016 South Atlantic League All-Star Game in Lexington, Kentucky on Tuesday, June 21st.
Phil Bickford, the 1st round draft pick out of College of Southern Nevada, has lived up to the billing thus far throughout his first season in Augusta. In nine starts, the 6'4" RHP is 2-4 with a 2.63 ERA and has thrown 57 strikeouts. Bickford struck out a career high 10 batters in his first start for Augusta, April 8th at the Rome Braves. He earned his first win for Augusta April 20th against the Rome Braves.
Michael Santos has enjoyed a fine season so far for the GreenJackets. In 10 starts, Santos has compiled a 4-2 record with a 2.91 ERA. He has struck out 44 batters versus only five walks. Santos was recognized as the SAL Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 2nd through May 8th. He pitched a complete game shutout victory against the Greensboro Grasshoppers May 2nd. Santos struck out five, only allowing one hit.
Outfielder Dylan Davis has been one of Augusta's best hitters all season. Through 45 games Davis is hitting .279 with five home runs, 31 RBI. Davis also boasts an impressive .372 on-base percentage and .467 slugging percentage.
Catcher Matt Winn has been fantastic since joining the GreenJackets in late April. Along with Santos, he was named the SAL Player of the Week for May 2nd - May 8th. Winn batted .474 with a .474 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage during the week. He went an astonishing 9-19, with four doubles, two home runs, four RBI and five runs scored. On May 7th at the Rome Braves he went 4-5 with a double, home run and three RBI. He scored three runs. For the season, Winn is hitting .236 with five home runs and 16 RBI.

The GreenJackets round out this current 6-game homestand with the Columbia Fireflies Tuesday at 7:05pm for Tuesday Brewsday featuring half-priced Draft Beers and fountain drinks. Wednesday is Veteran Appreciation Night, Baseball Bingo and it's also Silver Jackets Night! Tuesday will be a doubleheader, two games for the price of one! Gates open at 4:30pm, with first pitch scheduled for 5:05pm. Game 2 will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of game 1.
The 28th consecutive season of professional baseball in Augusta is underway.
