Hickory Crawdads News Release

Hickory, NC - The Texas Rangers, major league parent club of the Hickory Crawdads, have announced that 'Dads second baseman Andy Ibanez has been promoted to the Frisco RoughRiders (Class AA), becoming the second Crawdad in as many days to move up in the organization.

Ibanez, 23, has been one of the best hitters in the South Atlantic League this season. The Cuba native departs Hickory ranking among the league leaders in nearly every major offensive category, including slugging percentage (1st - .546), OPS (2nd - .959), extra base hits (2nd - 26), total bases (2nd - 101), doubles (3rd - 18), on-base percentage (3rd - .413), RBI (4th - 35), and batting average (5th - .324). Signed by the Rangers in July of 2015, Ibanez was riding an 8-game hit streak with the Crawdads that included 4 home runs, 11 RBI.

Ibanez's promotion highlights several moves involving the 'Dads roster, with OF Eduard Pinto also departing with a move to the 7-day DL. Replacing the duo are INF Carlos Arroyo and OF Connor McKay.

Ibanez becomes the third Crawdad in 2016 to earn a promotion, joining OF Chris Garia in Frisco as well as RHP Tyler Davis who was sent to the High Desert Mavericks (Class-A Advanced).
