'Blades see roster shake up before Greenville series

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president & general manager Craig Brush, along with head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that defenseman Jeremy Swanson has been reassigned to the team from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Swanson, 21, returns to the Everblades after spending the past three and half months with the Americans where he skated in 11 games, picking up no points and 23 penalty minutes. The Red Rock, Ontario native played in Florida's first two games this season, collecting one assist.

Swanson saw action last season with the Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL (7 pts, 44 games) and San Antonio of the AHL (4 pts, 21 games). Prior to turning pro, Swanson spent the previous four seasons playing in the OHL with Sault-Ste. Marie and the Barrie Colts. From 2001-04 with Barrie, Swanson scored 109 points (21g, 78a) and picked up 327 penalty minutes in 201 games. During the 2000-01 season, the former 6th round draft pick by the Florida Panthers in 2002 collected seven points in 54 games, and added 60 PIM.

In other roster moves, the Everblades placed Bryce Charpentier on the 30-day injured reserve list and activated forward Kevin Bergin from the 7-day IR. In addition, forward Vince Bellissimo has been re-called to the American Hockey League by the Lowell Lock Monsters.

Charpentier, 23, suffered the injury in Florida's 6-0 victory over the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Saturday night at the Pensacola Civic Center. Charpentier heads to the IR having scored one point (0g, 1a) and picking up 52 penalty minutes in 27 games with the Everblades this season. The Temecula, CA native is in his second season with the Everblades, having scored six points in 40 games with Florida last year.

Bergin returns to the Everblades line-up after missing the last two games. The 24-year-old has tallied 37 points (17g, 20a) and 49 penalty minutes in his 39 games with the Everblades this season. The native on Montreal began the season with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL, playing in four games, picking up two assists.

Bellissimo returns to Lowell after making his second trip to the ECHL this season. The 23-year-old skated in Florida's 6-0 win at Pensacola this past weekend, and did not register a point during his most recent stint in the ECHL. Bellissimo has played in 45 games with the Lock Monsters picking up eight goals and adding six assists. The Toronto native's first stint with the Everblades was a short one, playing just one game on Dec. 14 at Augusta where he picked up a goal and an assist against the Lynx.

The Everblades return to action on tonight when they take on the Greenville Grrrowl at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena. The first 1,000 women in attendance tonight will have a change to win a $500 diamond courtesy of Henricks Jewelers.
