Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Alaska goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for the third time this season after stopping 68 of 72 shots in a three-game sweep of Phoenix over the weekend.

Beckford-Tseu also earned the Goalie of the Week award for October 24-30 and November 14-20 and was the recipient of ECHL Goaltender of the Month honors for October. He left for Alaska's AHL affiliate in Peoria earlier this morning, two days after concluding the weekend with 23 saves in a 5-2 win over the Roadrunners that punctuated the fourth three-game sweep of an opponent at Sullivan Arena turned in by the Aces this year. Sunday's win marked the first time in five starts against Phoenix that the 21-year-old Toronto native gave up more than one goal. Beckford-Tseu stopped 20 of 21 shots in Friday's 6-1 rout and 25 of 26 in a 4-1 victory Saturday, giving him a 1.33 GAA and a .944 save percentage for the week.

Originally a fifth-round pick of St. Louis in 2003, Beckford-Tseu has been called up by the Blues twice this season. He currently leads the ECHL with a 1.87 GAA and an .895 winning percentage (16-1-2, including 12-0 at home) while ranking second in the league with a .929 save percentage. Beckford-Tseu becomes the first goaltender in 2005-06 to capture the weekly honor three times, and only the fourth netminder in ECHL history to do so three times in a single season.

Left winger Mike Scott narrowly missed out on giving Alaska a clean sweep of the ECHL weekly awards, finishing runner-up for Player of the Week honors after scoring four goals, including two game-winners, and four assists in the three wins over Phoenix. The 28-year-old from Calgary has moved into second place in the ECHL scoring race with 62 points on 23 goals and 39 assists while leading the league with a +34 rating.

The Aces, winners of eight straight at home and 12 of their last 13 overall, return to action Friday night in the opener of a three-game series against Long Beach at Sullivan Arena, with the face-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m. All Alaska Aces games, home and away, are broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com. In addition, all home games and selected road contests will be available on a pay-per-view basis on the internet, courtesy of B2 Networks.
