Dayton Bombers News Release

Dayton, OH- The Bombers met the Toledo Storm for the first time in almost two months at the Nutter Center on Tuesday night, and coincidentally two of the top rivals met on Valentine's Day.

The first period was as equal as a period of hockey can come. Both teams had their chances both on the power play and at even strength. Dayton and Toledo each had 11 shots on goal and the game was scoreless after one.

Early in the second Toledo would take the lead at the 1:24 mark on a goal by Brad Bonello, going short side over the glove shoulder of Bombers starting goaltender Mike Brown.

One of the turning points in the game came moments later, as Tim Konsorada (10) tied it at one answering Bonello's goal by going short side on Toledo starting goaltender Drew McIntyre, underneath the glove side arm, assists on the goal to Dominic Noel (12) and Jeff Szwez (17) at the 3:35 mark in the second.

Both Brown and McIntyre stole the show the rest of the period, exchanging save for save in both ends of the ice, and because of that the game remained tied for most of the second, but Toledo rookie Bracken Kearns gave the storm the lead on the power play late in the second at the 15:30 mark to allow the Storm to take a 2-1 lead into the locker room.

Toledo then made it 3-1 early in the third on a quick release from Chris Blight off a face-off win by Kearns.

The Bombers would not go down without a fight and they would cut into the two goal lead at the 12:39 mark on a power play goal by Jeff Szwez (18), assists to Konsorada (20) and Teplitsky (18) to make it 3-2 with just under eight minutes left in regulation, but the Storm would hold defensively and even though the Bombers had their chances it still wasn't enough, final score Toledo 3, Dayton 2.

The Bombers continue their 15th Anniversary season at home on Friday night at 7:00pm, as their North Division rivals the Reading Royals come to town. The game can be heard on 980 (am) Homer the Sports Animal or on line at www.daytonbombers.com. Dayton Bombers Hockey, celebrating 15 years of fun.
