Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Augusta Lynx posted a 6-5 come-from-behind win over the Gladiators on Tuesday night at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center. Milan Gajic had three points for Gwinnett but it wasn't enough to help the Gladiators past the Lynx. Gajic's 19th goal of the season on the power play gave the Gladiators an early 1-0 lead on the Lynx. Parked in the slot, Gajic took a center pass from Jeff Campbell and ripped a one-timer past Augusta netminder Mike Wall for the tally. Brad Schell also picked up a helper on the power play tally at 6:49 of first period. Gwinnett took a 2-0 lead on Gajic's second marker of the contest at 9:27 of the opening period. Gajic posted the goal off an assist from Matt York as Gajic walked in on a breakaway and flipped the puck past Wall for his 20th goal of the season. Augusta got within one on a breakaway goal by Nicolas Corbeil at the 10:47 mark of first period. Tapping the puck away from a Gladiators defenseman, Corbeil whipped a snapshot past Gladiators netminder Sean Fields for the unassisted tally. Cam Brown pushed the Gladiators lead back to two goals, jamming the puck past Wall at 13:39 of the first period as it sat loose in the slot. Matt York and Jon Awe collected the assists as they muscled the puck through the neutral zone to set up the tally. Doug Wright got the Lynx back within a goal for the second time during the first period posting a tally with five minutes left in the stanza. Ryan Lang and B.J. Gaustad recorded the assists on the goal. Augusta tied the game up in the second period on a tally by Ryan Lang at the 10:43 mark of the second period. Gwinnett got caught on a bad line change allowing Gaustad to feed Lang on a 2-on-1 break to set up the tally.

Gwinnett took a 4-3 lead on a tally by Jeff Campbell just 3:35 into the third period as he beat Jason Wolfe with a slap shot over the netminder shoulder to the goal. Brad Schell and Steve Slaton posted the assists on the tally.

Martin Lapointe tied the game back up, this time at four as he ripped a slap shot just under the crossbar past Fields for the tally five minutes into the third period. Dan Sullivan and Nicolas Corbeil hooked up to pick up the helpers on the tally. Brad Schell's slapshot from the left wing face off circle flew past Wolfe and gave the Gladiators their final lead of the game, 5-4 at the 9:50 mark of the final period. Gajic posted an assist on the goal, rolling the puck along to a wide open Schell in the circle. Augusta tied the game at five with a goal at the 14:06 mark of the third period as Brian Passmore slipped alone into the right wing circle and ripped a slap shot past Fields for the tally. Anthony Battaglia and John Whitwell posted the assists on the tally. Ryan Lang scored the game winner with just 8 seconds left it the game as the puck deflected out of a pile of bodies in the slot right to Lang who beat Fields under the cross bar. Ken Scuderi and Joel Stepp posted the assists on the tally.

Gwinnett went a perfect 1-for-1 on the man advantage as the Gladiators fall to 33-11-5 on the season. Sean Fields made 25 saves in the loss for the Gladiators.
