
Falcons' Mather Named In Glas Co ECHL Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Shawn Mather of the Fresno Falcons is the In Glas
Co ECHL Player of the Week for Feb. 6-12.
The 25-year-old scored five goals, including a hat trick, and nine points
in four games to help the Falcons go 4-0-0 and stay atop the Pacific
Division at 29-8-10, nine points ahead of second-place Long Beach.
After registering two assists in a 3-2 win at Stockton on Feb. 8, the
5-foot-11 and 187-pound center scored all three goals in the Falcons 3-2
win against Stockton on Feb. 10. He scored his 100th professional goal and
had three points (2g-1a) in a 5-3 win at Stockton on Feb. 11 and extended
his scoring streak to four games with an assist in a 4-1 win at Stockton on
Feb. 12.
Mather is tied for the league lead with six game-winning goals and he leads
Fresno with 23 goals and 10 power-play goals while ranking second on the
team with 45 points in 42 games.
In his fifth season in the ECHL, he has played for New Orleans, Johnstown
and Atlantic City as well as Fresno scoring 213 points (98g-115a) in 264
regular season games and three points (1g-2a) in five Kelly Cup Playoff
games. He has also played in the American Hockey League with Saint John,
Binghamton and Cleveland scoring seven points (2g-5a) in 44 regular season
games and three points (2g-1a) in nine playoff games.
Born in Chatham, Ontario, Mather played one season at Michigan State in
1998-99 and two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Windsor from
1999-2001, scoring 129 points (53g-76a) in 132 regular season games and 13
points (9g-4a) in nine playoff games.
On behalf of Shawn Mather, a case of pucks will be donated to a Fresno area
youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier
for the ECHL. In Glas Co has donated more than 14,000 pucks to youth
hockey organizations in ECHL cities since it began sponsoring the award in
2000-01.
