Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (29-15-3) saw their three-game winning streak snapped with a 5-2 loss to the Greenville Grrrowl (28-16-2) on Tuesday night in front of a crowd of 5,778 at Germain Arena.
The Grrrowl used two goals by Tim Sestito and 25 saves by goaltender Cam Ellsworth to push their winning streak to three.
Although Florida scored first in the game on a power play goal by Dustin Johner at 8:16 of the first period, Greenville responded by scoring the next four goals. Rory McMahon tallied first for Greenville just 14 seconds after Johner gave Florida a 1-0 lead. Sestito then scored the first of his goals at 8:26 of the second period, then tallied again beating Everblades goalie Phil Osaer at 13:56 of the middle frame to give the Grrrowl a 3-1 lead heading into the third period.
In the final period, John Snowden picked up his 17th goal of the year scoring at 7:39 to open a three-goal Greenville lead.
The Everblades managed to cut the lead in half when Jeremy Swanson deflected a shot past Ellsworth with 3:32 remaining in regulation. The goal was Swanson's first of the season. Greenville however, answered back when Allan Sirois completed a breakaway just 37 seconds later to seal the win.
Osaer saw his personal two-game winning streak come to an end by allowing the five goals on 33 Greenville shots, which dropped his record to 14-8-2. Ellsworth won his third straight game by turning away 25 of 27 Florida shots, raising his record to 7-3-1.
On the power play, the Everblades converted on one of their six chances, while the Grrrowl closed out game going 0-for-3. With the loss, the Everblades fell to 1-2-0 vs. Greenville this season.
