
'Blades Add McGowan; Sandlak Reassigned by Carolina

ESTERO, FL -- The Florida Everblades announced a couple of roster moves on Friday. The Everblades have agreed to terms with forward Mark McGowan (pictured left, courtesy Mick Neal). In addition, forward Carter Sandlak (pictured right) was reassigned to Florida on Wednesday by the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL) from the Charlotte Checkers (AHL).
McGowan, 24, joins the Everblades after posting 11 points (7g, 4a) in 39 games played this season at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (R.P.I.). The 6-1, 195-pound forward totaled 48 points (21g, 27a) during his four-year collegiate career at R.P.I. from 2011-2015. The Toronto, Ontario native recorded 129 points with the Oakville Blades (OJHL) from 2009-2011.
Sandlak, 21, posted two assists in his Everblades debut on Wednesday (March 25) against Reading. The 6-2 205-pound winger has registered four points (2g, 2a) with 65 penalty minutes in 38 appearances with the Charlotte Checkers this season. The Vancouver, BC native posted 48 points (24g, 24a) in 61 games played with the Plymouth Whalers (OHL) last season. Sandlak totaled 122 points during his five seasons played in the Ontario Hockey League (2001-2014) in stints with Guelph, Belleville, and Plymouth.
The Everblades continue their road trip tonight against the Elmira Jackals. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. Fans may listen online at theislandfm.net
