March 27, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - In the sixth of eight head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Indy Fuel were defeated by the Reading Royals on Friday at Indiana Farmers Coliseum by a final score of 3-2. With the loss, the Fuel fell to 26-29-4-5 overall this season and with 61 points, remain alone in sixth place in the ECHL's North Division standings, two points shy of the North Division's final playoff spot.
After a scoreless opening period, Reading stormed to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Olivier Labelle and Jordan Heywood at 1:41 and 9:59 of the second frame. Indy's Peter Schneider responded at 8:10 of the second with the former Notre Dame winger's second goal of the season, a rebound tapper assisted by Nick Bruneteau and Anders Franzon that made it 2-1. After Reading's Brett Flemming extended the Royals' lead to 3-1 at 15:35, a Garett Bembridge power-play tally in the game's final minute wasn't enough as the Fuel fell by a 3-2 final score.
Shane Owen took the loss in net for Indy and thanks to a 40-save performance from Martin Ouellette, the Royals improved to 6-0-0-0 vs. the Fuel this season.
