Evansville IceMen News Release
CINCINNATI.- In their first game with the Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, Luke Greiner and Joe Zarbo each scored a goal and added an assist. However, the debuting IceMen could not carry Evansville to victory against the Cincinnati Cyclones, who came away with a 4-2 win.
Cincinnati claimed an early lead. Jack Combs put in a Josh McFadden rebound to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead less than seven minutes into the game.
Evansville answered moments later. Making his IceMen debut, Greiner forced a turnover on a forecheck that led to a Brandon Martell slap shot. Rob Madore made the save, but Greiner slammed in the rebound to tie the game at one.
Greiner's goal gives him a five-game goal streak dating back his time with the Huntsville Havoc. Zarbo earned his first professional point with an assist on Greiner's goal.
In the second period, Jarret Lukin found Zarbo on a cross-crease feed. The rookie ripped the puck into the back of the net for his first pro goal. Zarbo's strike made it a 2-1 lead and gave him two points in his debut. Greiner picked up his second point of the game on the play. Lukin now has 10 points in 10 March games.
Cincinnati climbed back in front after two more goals from Combs. His hat trick gave the Cyclones a 3-2 advantage heading into the final period.
In the third period, Cincinnati sounded the horn on a power play tally from David Pacan. The IceMen outshout the Cyclones 34-29 but Madore made 32 saves to help Cincinnati close out the 4-2 win.
The IceMen finish their two-game Ohio trip on Saturday when they play the Toledo Walleye at 6:15 p.m. central time.
