March 27, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI,Ohio - Forward Jack Combs made an impressive debut as his hat trick helped lift the Cincinnati Cyclones (28-28-1-7) to a 4-2 victory over the Evansville IceMen (14-42-5-3) in front of 2,924 at U.S. Bank Arena on Friday night.
The Cyclones opening the scoring at the 6:59 mark of the first period when newcomer Jack Combs backhanded home his 28th goal of the season past Branden Komm (L, 25 saves, 3-8-1-1) to make it 1-0. However, the IceMen answered back with a strike of their own at 14:14 as Luke Greiner tucked in his first of the year through the legs of Rob Madore (W, 32 saves, 13-17-1-6) to knot things at one heading into the first intermission.
The IceMen grabbed their first lead of the night just 5:38 into the middle stanza as Joe Zarbo slid home his first goal as a professional after a great feed from Jarret Lukin. But Combs would respond in a big way for Cincinnati the rest of the frame, potting a pair of goals in a ten minute span to complete the hat trick and give his team a 3-2 edge after 40 minutes. He became the second Cyclones this season to net a three-goal game.
Cincinnati would put the game out of reach early into the final period as David Pacan buried a rebound at the side of the net at 5:33 for a power play goal and a 4-2 edge. The Cyclones would buckle down defensively the rest of the way, surrendering just six shots in the final 20 minutes and cruised to the two-goal triumph.
The Cyclones will be back on the ice at U.S. Bank Arena TOMORROW night when they welcome in the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30pm! It's our annual Pucks and Pups Night, where fans can bring their four-legged friend to the game for just $2 in addition to a normal game ticket!
