Buffalo Bisons News Release

Led by Forrest Wall, the Buffalo Bisons' aggressive style of baserunning got the job done Friday night as they beat the Rochester Red Wings 6-3 for their fourth win in a row at Sahlen Field.

The savvy base running from Wall started in the third inning and yielded the Bisons' first run of the game. Wall hit a single and converted a perfect hit & run to score from first base on an Otto Lopez single that grounded behind him through the right infield gap.

"I was stealing on the pitch and saw him [Lopez] put it behind me and you know I just kept running," said Wall.

Wall's aggressive style on the base paths carried over to the rest of the lineup as Buffalo got a trio of runs in the fourth inning with four singles.

Cullen Large stole second base and Kellin Deglan drove him home with a line drive into right field. Deglan then went first to third on a Nash Knight single and scored on a Wall sacrifice fly. Lopez then came up with another clutch hit driving Knight home for his second RBI single of the game.

"You know as a leadoff hitter I try to set the tone for the team," said Wall. "And if I can play hard and do my part and have my teammates feed off that I'd say I am accomplishing my job."

Wall continued dancing on the base paths in the seventh to earn a Buffalo an insurance run. After stealing second base and moving to third on a groundout, Wall jumped and took a couple of aggressive steps towards home plate to induce a balk. The free advancement brought Wall home and extended the lead to 5-3.

For good measure Josh Palacios, in his first game back with Bisons since May 9, hustled from first to home on a Richard Urena double to extend the lead to 6-3 in the eighth inning.

Since returning from the injured list in late July, Wall has not appeared to have lost a step going 2-2 with a walk and a stolen base Friday. Wall has 16 hits, eight stolen bases and 13 runs in 15 starts since being activated off the IL.

In addition, it is safe to say Otto Lopez has found his footing at the Triple-A level. Lopez extended his hit streak five games with four of the contests being multi-hit efforts.

Zach Logue took the mound for the Bisons and helped paved the way for the Bisons' victory. The lefty pitched six scoreless innings and struck out five. Logue earned his fifth win of the season and lowered his ERA under four down to 3.51.

"He did a great job and went out there and he recognized maybe they were sitting on some breaking stuff and off-speed pitches late in the count with two strikes and he made the adjustment and attacked," said Bisons' manager Casey Candaele.

Six wins in a row and four straight over the Red Wings (33-50) have catapulted the Bisons (53-32) into the lead in the Triple-A Northeast division and a game behind the Durham Bulls for the best record in Triple-A East.

The Bisons' clinched the series victory over Rochester Friday and will try to get a game closer to a sweep Saturday. Righty Thomas Hatch is expected to make the day-game start. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
