IronPigs Hold off RailRiders

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
MOOSIC, Pa. - A late comeback fell short on Friday night as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders fell to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 6-4 at PNC Field.
The IronPigs took the lead in the top of the second on a two-run single by Ruben Tejada against RailRiders opener Braden Bristo. In 2.0 innings, Bristo (5-2) yielded two runs on three hits while striking out three in his first game started as a professional.
Matt Krook entered after him and allowed three runs on two hits and seven walks in 5.0 innings of work in relief. The seven free passes tied the most issued in a single appearance by a RailRiders pitcher this year, and set a new career high for Krook.
The RailRiders struggled to get anything going offensively in the game until Greg Allen cracked a solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the IronPigs lead to 5-1. Allen finished the night 2-for-4 with a home run, and now has a seven-game hitting streak in which he is batting .500 (12-for-24).
In the bottom of the seventh Socrates Brito and Armando Alvarez singled against Damon Jones, and Donny Sands clobbered a home run to left to close the gap to 5-4. Sands' fifth home run with the team gave Scranton/Wilkes-Barre its third straight multi-home run game.
Lehigh Valley added an unearned run against Ron Marinaccio in the top of the ninth to take a 6-4 advantage. Ryan LaMarre led off the bottom of the ninth, but Cam Bedrosian closed out the RailRiders for his second save of the season.
SWB continues its series with Lehigh Valley on Saturday night at PNC Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. LHP J.P. Sears (0-0, 1.80) gets the start for the RailRiders, while the Iron Pigs counter with RHP Adonis Medina (3-5, 4.94).
