Today's Game

Buffalo and Pawtucket play game two of their three-game series at McCoy Stadium, after a 4:01 extra innings affair on Monday. Left hander Ryan Borucki makes his 2018 debut for the Bisons. Borucki made one start for The Herd in 2017 to cap off a successful season across three levels in the Blue Jays' organization. Buffalo ends their first roadtrip of the season tomorrow at McCoy Stadium, before their home opener on April 12 vs Indianapolis.

About Last Night

The Bisons finally played after three postponements in Rochester over the weekend, using extra innings to defeat the PawSox 4-3 in 12 innings. Dwight Smith Jr. and Danny Jansen each hit solo home runs for the Herd, while Joe Biagini pitched five innings in the start. Tim Lopes' RBI base hit in the 12th scored Jason Leblebijian for the game-winning run. It was The Herd's first Opening Day win on the road since 2008 at Norfolk, 9-4 on April 3. Despite the win, the Bisons tied a Modern Era record with 20 strikeouts in a game (6/3/01 vCOL. L, 2-1).

Pawtucket (0-1)

The PawSox have a familiar face returning as manager with Kevin Boles for his fifth season in Pawtucket. Last season the Bisons split the season series with their IL North foe with nine wins apiece. Each team held serve at home, with Buffalo winning four of seven meetings at Coca-Cola Field, and the PawSox going 6-5 at McCoy.

Ryan Borucki

LHP Ryan Borucki will make his first start of 2018, after 27 total appearances in 2017 that ended with a start for the Bisons against Pawtucket on August 31. Borucki pitched six scoreless innings, while striking out six on Fan Appreciation Night at Coca-Cola Field. The lefty made a total of 26 starts in 2017, between Dunedin (A-Adv), New Hampshire (Double-A), and Buffalo.

Danny Jansen

The Bisons' backstop was a triple shy of the cycle on Monday night, going 4-4 at the plate with a walk. His sixth inning HR game the Herd a 3-1 lead at the time, and collected his second 2B of the game in the 11th inning. Jansen came within a triple shy of the cycle on 8/21/17 at McCoy Stadium as well.

Top Prospects in Buffalo

The Bisons roster boasts six of the Blue Jays' top 20 prospects within the organization, with C Danny Jansen (#6) and LHP Ryan Borucki (#8) inside of the top eight. The list is rounded out by INF Richard Urena (#11), C Reese McGuire (#14), 1B Rowdy Tellez (#15), and RHP Carlos Ramirez (#17).

Major League Experience

The Bisons roster boasts 14 players that appeared in the Major Leagues in 2017, including 10 on the Herd's pitching staff. In addition to Joe Biagini, Deck McGuire and Chris Rowley all pitched in the big leagues, and two of the team's outfielders, Dwight Smith Jr. and Ian Parmley, made their MLB debuts last season.

Blue Jays Update

A pair of home runs helped propel Toronto to a 7-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night. Steve Pearce hit a 2R HR in the third inning, and Josh Donaldson smashed a grand slam in the ninth inning to secure the win. Ex-Bison J.A. Happ notched his second win of the year for the Jays as well. The same two teams meet tonight at 7:05 p.m., Aaron Sanchez starts for Toronto tonight in Baltimore.
