INDIANAPOLIS - Toledo first baseman Jim Adduci launched a grand slam in the first inning to lift the Mud Hens to a 9-6 triumph over the Indianapolis Indians on Tuesday night at Victory Field. The Tribe bullpen was a bright spot on a chilly night, throwing a combined 4.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts.

The Mud Hens (4-1) followed the same script as the series opener, posting a big number in the top of the first en route to victory. A dropped catch at first base preceded consecutive singles by Dawel Lugo and Christin Stewart, and Adduci's shot snuck over the right field wall to put Indy in a 4-0 hole.

Toledo extended its lead to 5-0 in the third thanks to Adduci and Jason Krizan. Adduci tripled with two down and Krizan - who homered twice and doubled twice in the series opener - added his fifth extra-base hit in two days off Tribe pitching.

The Indians (2-3) sent nine batters to the dish in the home half, however, to pull back within two runs. Two walks and a catcher's interference set up run-scoring singles by Max Moroff and Austin Meadows. Jose Osuna then drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 5-3.

The visitors tacked on another run in the fourth and three in the fifth, giving them their largest lead of the night at 9-3. A sacrifice fly by Jordan Luplow in the fifth pulled Indy to within five, and the score remained that way until the bottom of the ninth.

A two-out rally for the Tribe in their final at-bat eventually led to RBI singles by Moroff and Meadows again, but Osuna - representing the tying run - flew out to deep right to seal the defeat.

Casey Sadler (L, 0-1) was handed the loss after allowing nine runs (five earned) on 11 hits in 4.1 innings pitched. Blaine Hardy (W, 1-0) was credited with the win for Toledo.

The Indians and Mud Hens play the finale of their three-game series Wednesday, April 11 at 11:05 a.m. The Tribe will send righty Nick Kingham (0-0, 0.00) to the bump, opposite Toledo southpaw Ryan Carpenter (0-0, 5.40).
