
Knights Drop Tuesday's Game to Tides 7-1

(NORFOLK, VA) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped the middle game of their three-game series against the Norfolk Tides by a score of 7-1 on Tuesday from Harbor Park in Norfolk, VA. The Knights will conclude their series on Wednesday before opening a seven-game homestand from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte on Thursday.
Brett Austin, a Charlotte, NC native, drove home the team's lone run of the game in the second inning. Austin, a product of Providence High School, recorded an RBI single in his first career Triple-A at-bat. Austin's second-inning hit was one of Charlotte's four hits on the evening.
LHP T.J. House (0-1, 6.75) made his 2018 season debut and was saddled with the loss. House allowed six runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks over four innings of work. House, who also struck-out five batters, was relieved by RHP Tyler Danish. The 24-year-old threw two scoreless innings on the night. RHP Juan Minaya, who was optioned to Charlotte on Saturday from the Chicago White Sox, gave up one run on one hit over two innings of work.
The Norfolk Tides were led offensively by Michael Saunders and Alex Presley. Saunders went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, while Presley went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. LHP Josh Edgin earned the win out of the Norfolk bullpen. He gave up just two hits over 2.1 scoreless innings pitched. A total of five Norfolk pitchers combined to hold the Knights to just one run on four hits.
The Knights will conclude their three-game series from Norfolk, VA on Wednesday afternoon with the finale of the series. Pre-game radio coverage of Wednesday's 12:05 p.m. matchup will begin at 11:50 a.m. on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and CharlotteKnights.com. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action. RHP Dylan Covey will get the start for the Knights against Norfolk RHP Tim Melville.
