Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The IronPigs and Railriders continue the Iron Rail Classic this evening at 6:35 p.m. at PNC Field. The Railriders took the opening game of the series with a snowy 5-3 victory Monday night.

The Pigs will send Enyel De Los Santos to the mound to make his Phillies organizational debut. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will counter with sinker-baller Brody Koerner. Tonight's starting pitching matchup is presented by Allentown Family Foot Care, which provides the latest in medical and surgical treatments of the entire foot and ankle. Learn more at affc.com.

De Los Santos is the Phillies' No. 15 prospect according to MLB. Acquired this offseason from the Padres for shortstop Freddy Galvis, De Los Santos is one of four top-30 prospects in the Pigs' starting rotation. The 22-year-old spent 2017 with San Antonio (Double-A for San Diego) and made 24 starts, posting a 10-6 record with a 3.78 ERA. The Dominican native compliments an upper-90's fastball with excellent control, which makes him one of the most intriguing prospects in the Phillies farm system.

Koerner is a 24-year old who was drafted by the Yankees in the 17th round of the 2015 draft out of Clemson. In 2017, the Winchester, Virginia native split his time between High-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton. While with Trenton, Koerner went 6-3 with a 4.08 ERA (12 GS, 32/70.2, 84 h, 45 K). Koerner made his pro debut in 2015 and has a career MiLB record of 15-5 with a 2.79 ERA (44 G, 23 GS, 59/170.2, 165 h, 125 K).

Game 1: Cole Irvin took the ball for the Pigs in the series opener of the Iron Rail Rivalry. After surrendering a home run in the first inning, Irvin settled in and retired the final 15 of the final17 batters he faced. Irvin struck out an IronPigs season-high 10 batters but did not earn a decision in the contest.

Trailing by two the Pigs got a game-tying home run from Danny Ortiz in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at three. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre was able to add runs in the both the seventh and eighth innings to restore the two-run margin.

The RailRiders and IronPigs will play 20 times in total this season as part of the Iron Rail Rivalry. Last season the Pigs took the series 11-7 and claimed The Iron Rail. Just 74 miles separate Coca-Cola Park and PNC Field. Current Season Series: SWB 1-0

The Pigs return home on Thursday, April 12, for their home opener vs. the Louisville Bats. Tickets for the 7:05 p.m. contest are available at the Coca-Cola Park ticket window and at IronPigsBaseball.com.
