LEADING OFF: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre topped Lehigh Valley 5-3 on Monday night at PNC Field. Kyle Higashioka hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first off Cole Irvin for the early edge. The IronPigs could not plate a run off SWB starter Daniel Camarena over four and a third, but broke up the shutout in the bottom of the sixth. After Billy Fleming singled home Mike Ford for a 3-1 lead in the home half of the sixth, Danny Ortiz hit a two-run shot to tie the game in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, Gleyber Torres tripled and scored on a Higashioka sac fly. The RailRiders added a run in the eighth to seal the win. Jonathan Holder was charged with a blown save and vultured the victory while Austin Davis suffered the loss. Angelo Gomez worked the ninth for his first save.

HICKS HERE: Aaron Hicks will begin a rehab assignment tonight for the RailRiders. According to manager Bobby Mitchell, the outfielder is slated to play five innings this evening and a full nine tomorrow before rejoining the Yankees. Hicks suffered a right intercostal muscle strain on Opening Day and has been on the DL since March 30.

RIVALRY RENEWED: The first IronRail series of the season continues through Wednesday at PNC Field. The IronPigs won the 2017 season series 11-7, but the RailRiders eliminated the Pigs from the postseason. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre owns the all-time series lead 83-66.

DOWN FOR A FEW DAYS: Giovanny Gallegos was placed on the 7-Day Disabled List on Monday. The right-hander pitched one inning on Sunday, allowing one run on one hit with one strikeout and one walk.

NEXT MAN UP: Brody Koerner will start game two of this series, replacing Domingo Germán in the rotation the first time through. German was slated to start tonight, but was recalled to the Majors by New York on Saturday.

DEBUT DAY: Rashad Crawford was promoted from Trenton Monday to fill the roster spot created when Giovanny Gallegos was placed on the Disabled List. Crawford was acquired from the Cubs in the July 2016 deal for Aroldis Chapman and has played for Tampa and the Thunder in his year and a half in the Yankees system. The outfielder hit .210 for Trenton last season with five home runs and 32 runs batted in.

KING OF SWING: Kyle Higashioka has hit two home runs in three games played this season. The backstop played at three Minor League levels last season in addition to nine games with New York, and combined to hit nine home runs. Higashioka hit a career-best 21 home runs between Trenton and SWB in 2016.

STRONG STARTS: David Hale worked six scoreless on Sunday and Daniel Camarena followed with four and a third scoreless last night. Over the first four games, RailRiders starters have allowed seven runs over 19 innings pitched, good for a 2.84 ERA. Four of those runs came in one inning and three came on one swing from Syracuse's Andrew Stevenson.

TWO GOOD: Zack Zehner has two multi-hit games so far in four chances. The outfielder had 27 multi-hit games last year over 128 games played.

OFF THE RAILS: Shane Robinson was signed to a Major League contract and selected from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre... The Yankees acquired infielder L.J. Mazzilli, son of long-time big league Lee Mazzilli, form the New York Mets in a trade earlier today and assigned him to the RailRiders roster...Each game against Syracuse over the opening weekend was decided by one run. SWB was a league-best 23-13 in one-run games last season...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: New York was off on Monday and plays at Boston tonight with Luis Severino on the bump... Trenton dropped an 11-1 decision to New Hampshire. Brian Keller took the loss for the Thunder... Tampa beat St. Lucie 5-1. Hoy Jun Park and Isiah Gilliam homered in the win... Chris Ness hit two home runs and drove in six as Charleston toppled Rome 10-2.
