Syracuse Mets News Release
SYRACUSE, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs are excited to announce a new partnership with Chick-fil-A, Cicero and Bottle & Can Retrieval Centers to develop a recycling program, Cans for Clear Path, to benefit Clear Path for Veterans.
"I am so excited to kick-off our new recycling program, Cans for Clear Path, for the 2018 season," said Jason Smorol, general manager. "I cannot thank Chick-fil-A, Cicero enough for agreeing to partner with us to make this a reality. We can never do enough for our Veterans, so I am proud that we are able to be a part of this program and make a contribution."
Cans for Clear Path will be held at NBT Bank Stadium during the 2018 baseball season. The program will encourage Chiefs fans to deposit their cans and bottles in the specially marked recycling bins located throughout the stadium. Thanks to the support of Chick-fil-A, Cicero 100% of the proceeds of all the bottles and cans collected in these bins during the course of the season will go to benefit programs and services at Clear Path for Veterans.
"We saw this as a great way to give back to an organization that does so much for Veterans in our community," said Jimmer Szatkowski, owner of Chick-fil-A, Cicero. "Through our partnership with the Chiefs, we'll also be able to provide Clear Path for Veterans season-long awareness for all of their programs and services."
Clear Path for Veterans is Upstate New York's Veteran Resource Center. Their 78-acre facility in Chittenango provides programs including service dog training for veterans with PTSD, peer mentoring, wellness - including acupuncture and massage, programs for families, a weekly canteen meal, career services, women's programming, art programs and more.
"We were thrilled that Chick-fil-A chose Clear Path as their designated charity for the recycling program that they're sponsoring at the stadium," said Myron Thurston, III, chief development officer at Clear Path for Veterans. "We encourage folks who want to learn more about us to stop by for a tour of our facility, come hike the trails on our property, or visit on a Wednesday and enjoy a Canteen Lunch."
