Syracuse Chiefs Change Opening Day Start Time

SYRACUSE, NY - Due to impending weather concerns, the Syracuse Chiefs have announced that Thursday's Opening Day at NBT Bank Stadium has been moved to 5:35 p.m. Gates will still open two hours early at 3:30 p.m., and Thursday's Dollar Thursday specials, Trapper Hat giveaway, and Opening Day Guarantee are all still in effect.

"Moving Thursday's game back to 5:35 gives us the best chance to play and to keep the integrity of Opening Day," said Chiefs General Manager Jason Smorol. "The temperature will be warm, and we have a perfect window at 5:35 so we can play and celebrate the start of another baseball season in Syracuse."

Opening Day is presented by Gannon Pest Control and the first 1,000 fans that enter the stadium will be given a "trapper hat" as the premium promotional giveaway. Opening Day falls on a Thursday so Hofmann Hot Dogs and Coney's are $1.00, Coca-Cola fountain drinks are $1.00, Saranac, Labatt, Coors and 1911 Hard Cider drafts are $2.00 and as always, there is a features $1.00 souvenir. 95X is the media co-sponsor of all $1 Thursdays.

The Opening Day guarantee is still in effect, if the Chiefs get in a complete game, every person who holds a ticket for Thursdays game can exchange that ticket for any game fort the rest of the month of April.

Any fan that is inconvenienced by the time change can exchange their ticket for any game for the rest of the 2018 regular season.

"At the end of the day, we want to play and this gives us the best chance to not only play, but provide a better fan experience," concluded Smorol.
