
Bekar, Mapletoft & Butenschon Recalled By Islanders

BRIDGEPORT, CT âThe American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the recall of Left Wing Derek Bekar, Center Justin Mapletoft and Defenseman Sven Butenschon by the big club. The Islanders had sent Butenschon to Bridgeport on conditioning loan last Sunday, December 28th. Bekar and Mapletoft were reassigned to the Sound Tigers prior to yesterday's 3-1 win over the Hershey Bears at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard.
Bekar has 14 goals, four assists, 18 points and 30 penalty minutes in 35 AHL games with the Sound Tigers and has appeared in two NHL games with the Islanders this season. Mapletoft has four goals, six assists, ten points and 12 penalty minutes in 11 AHL games with the Sound Tigers, as well as one goal, three assists, four points and six penalty minutes in 22 NHL games with the Islanders this season. Butenschon has one assist and four penalty minutes in five AHL games with the Sound Tigers, as well as three assists and 11 penalty minutes in 12 NHL games with the Islanders this season.
The Sound Tigers will play the first two of six straight road games and begin a stretch in which they will play eight of the next ten games on the road when they visit the Norfolk Admirals this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and this Sunday at 4 p.m. Both of this weekend's games will be web cast live at www.soundtigers.com. Saturday's game will also be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM.
Sound Tigers individual-game tickets are on sale at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard box office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on all game days, as well as on-line at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 203-368-1000.
