Adirondack Phantoms News Release

The Phantoms went 1-1 over the weekend to maintain the third-best win percentage (.581) in the Eastern Conference. On Friday, Mike Glumac recorded a hat trick to lead the visiting Worcester IceCats to a 3-1 victory over the Phantoms. Curtis Sanford registered the win by making 17 saves, while Antero Niittymaki turned aside 25 shots in the loss. Kirby Law netted Philadelphia's lone goal. The IceCats have won the last four match-ups in the series since Philadelphia's last win on Oct. 5, 2001. The Phantoms ended their three-game losing streak on Sunday with a 3-2 triumph over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Patrick Sharp scored twice, Law had three assists and Niittymaki made 22 saves to help Philadelphia win its third straight meeting with the Penguins. Martin Brochu stopped 24-of-25 shots over the final two periods for Wilkes-Barre, but suffered the loss.

JAN. 11 GAME MOVED TO MARCH 8

The Phantoms have announced that their game scheduled for this Sunday, Jan. 11 at 6:05 p.m. vs. the Albany River Rats has been moved to Monday, March 8 at 7:05 p.m. The change has been made due to the Philadelphia Eagles' home playoff game set for 4:45 p.m. on Jan. 11.

All tickets for the game on Jan. 11 will be honored on March 8. Season ticket and 15-game plan holders will be able to utilize the exchange policy in their respective packages. The Kids Run The Show Night promotion originally scheduled for Jan. 11 will now be held on Friday, March 19.

PENALTY LEADERS

The Phantoms lead the league in penalty minutes (31.49 per game), major penalties (61), minor penalties (290), 10-minute misconducts (10) and game misconducts (18). The game misconduct total is already more than any AHL team had all of last season.

LAW JOINS 100-ASSIST CLUB

Kirby Law became just the fifth player in Phantoms history to record 100 assists with the team when he helped set up all three goals in Sunday's 3-2 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Law's 101 helpers rank him behind only Peter White (287), Mark Greig (232), Shawn McCosh (130) and Jim Montgomery (110). John Slaney is not far behind with 90 career assists as a Phantom.

THE EX FILES

* Former Phantoms goaltender Brian Boucher of the Phoenix Coyotes registered his third consecutive shutout on Jan. 4 by making 26 saves in a 3-0 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. Boucher, who was a Phantom from 1997-2000, also blanked Los Angeles and Dallas last week.

* Brad Tiley, who played in Philadelphia from 2000-03, has just been named to the Springfield Falcons' 10th Anniversary Team. Currently playing for the Milwaukee Admirals, Tiley won the Eddie Shore Award as the AHL's top defenseman during his three-year stint (1997-2000) in Springfield.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

The Hamilton Bulldogs make their only visit of the season to Philadelphia on Wednesday. The Phantoms won the series opener, 1-0, in Hamilton on Dec. 23 when Neil Little stopped all 25 shots he faced and Peter Vandermeer tallied the lone goal of the game 8:47 into the third period. The victory snapped a five-game winless streak (0-4-1) vs. Hamilton. Philadelphia is 8-9-3-1 all-time vs. the Bulldogs, including a 5-4-1 mark when playing at home.

Philadelphia and Springfield meet for the first time since the 2001-02 season this Friday. The Falcons won both meetings two seasons ago after the Phantoms had swept the two-game season series back in 1999-2000. The all-time series is deadlocked at 5-5-2, but Philadelphia is 2-3-1 when playing in Springfield. The Falcons are set to play at the Spectrum on Sunday, Jan. 25.

The Phantoms are 0-2 vs. the Senators heading into Saturday's showdown in Binghamton. In the teams' first-ever meeting on Oct. 10, Denis Hamel scored twice and added an assist to lead the Senators to a 4-2 victory. Binghamton then posted a 5-1 win on Dec. 28 as Josh Langfeld recorded a goal and two assists. The game also included a combined 373 penalty minutes. The Phantoms and Senators will meet six times in 2003-04, with the next match-up scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7 in Binghamton.

UPCOMING PROMOTIONS

Fans who were in attendance for Win One, Get One Free Night on Sunday, Jan. 4 will receive a free ticket to Philadelphia's game this Wednesday, Jan. 7 vs. the Hamilton Bulldogs.
